Facilities
The King Hooper Mansion is a remarkably well preserved example of 18th century architecture, with many of the features unchanged since they were first installed. The mansion includes a third floor ballroom, seven distinct galleries and an antique tavern than opens up onto a brick patio leading to a courtyard garden. The garden is meticulously maintained by the Cottage Gardeners of Marblehead and is a perfect setting for an outdoor ceremony, cocktails, al fresco dining or photographs.
The entire mansion can accommodate up to 150 guests when fully utilized, inside and out. A second option is the rental of the tavern and garden only. The tavern can accommodate approximately 30 – 35 guests inside, but more outside.
Considerations
Street parking is allowed according to the restrictions of the town of Marblehead and is usually available on the streets around us. Call the MAA to discuss parking options. Dogs are allowed but must be leashed at all times. We recommend you don’t bring them to your rental event. No smoking or lit candles are allowed inside the Mansion, including birthday cake candles, tea lights or votives. Unfortunately, we are not handicapped accessible and some of our stairs can be challenging. Once inside, it is possible to navigate our first floor galleries via wheelchair and there is an accessible bathroom on the first floor.
Tables & Chairs
The King Hooper Mansion has a number of tables, 6ft and 4ft, available for your use as well as high-top tables and several upholstered armchairs. Additionally, there are 50+ upholstered folding chairs at your disposal included in the cost of the rental. Table linens can be rented for an additional fee.
Function Support
A required facility manager, designated by the MAA, will be present at all times to help facilitate your event and make sure everything goes smoothly. There is a separate fee of $30 per hour for this service which will be included in your rental contract.
Depending on the scope of the event, (usually larger evening parties) there may be a need for two facility managers to be on hand; please call to discuss case by case details.
