Martha Quigley
I work exclusively in oils as I explore motion, color and light, within the context of waterscapes. I build layers over a warm-tinted underpainting, which adds subtle warmth to what has traditionally been my very cool palette. I have also found a niche painting commissioned portraits of animals. I work quickly with large brushes to maintain my loose style, while capturing their personalities by detailing the eyes and expression.
I print and frame all my own work using acid free matboard and archival inks for my fine art giclée printing.
I have been painting my entire life beginning private art instruction at age 12 and graduating Massachusetts College of Art with a BFA in Art Education and minor in drawing.
My website is my “virtual” gallery and allows me to share my two passions for art and the ocean while traveling to coastal venues as a participant in 12 professional Art events each year from New England to Florida.
