Lisa McKenna

Lisa McKenna, a collage artist from Marblehead, MA, specializes in the fusion of vintage imagery with digital techniques. With a career spanning over two decades, her work is a deliberate challenge to the submissive portrayal of women in mid-century advertising. Through her creative process, she transforms these images into surrealist collages, infusing them with strength and resilience.

She navigates public domain archives like a digital forager, curating abandoned photographs, each concealing untold stories, waiting to be reimagined. Her collages engage with narratives that continue to resonate in contemporary discussions, particularly addressing the underrepresentation of women in the art community.

Lisa’s work has been exhibited globally, including on the walls of London’s Tube, at IHAM Galerié in Paris, The Marais Paris Art Walk, Art Basel Miami, Lower Draw Gallery NYC, and Art Crush Gallery in Ghent, Belgium. She has been recognized as one of the “100 Women to Watch” by Gxrls Revolution, and she also shares insights on collage trends through her contributions to Medium.
