Connectedness – Amisha Kashyap
March 4 – April 16
Photographs, Larrabee Gallery
“From time to time, we all feel lonely. But am I just momentarily lonely or alone? Am I lost or will I find myself? What do I feel connected with? After I lost my mom, as an only child and immigrant, these are questions I grappled with; I had already lost my dad.”
Amisha Kashyap’s photographs are exploring the idea of Connectedness. She shoots landscapes in New England and in this exhibit all the pictures are from North Bridge, Concord and Minuteman National Park, Lexington.
About her process – She shoots with film cameras such as a plastic toy camera called the Holga and a vintage TLR Yashica camera. Her photos are printed by a master prints man on vellum, a translucent paper. She then applies gold leaf to the back of the photograph. Gold leaf is a delicate, thin sheet of pure gold, it is thinner than a sheet of Kleenex.
