Secret Heroines / Valiant Women – THE REVOLUTION

Cheryl Bartlam du Bois and Debra Ann Pawlak will discuss their two most recent books focusing on the early years of the American Revolution in New England during this author presentation and book signing while in costume.

Discover the world of Moll Pitcher, the great psychic of Lynn, Massachusetts. Pitcher, born in Marblehead, was the granddaughter of Edward Dimond, known as the Wizard who brought sailors safely home from turbulent seas. Pitcher was known world-wide for her famous predictions and once read for British Officers in her home at the base of High Rock. Any intelligence she earned, she quickly passed on to the Sons of Liberty. She was also instrumental in hiding small arms and ammunition in the Wolf Pits of Lynn Woods.

Featured will be Marblehead’s own Brigadier General John Glover—a valiant hero of the Revolutionary War, as well as his brave men known as the Marbleheaders— considered the Army’s first integrated troop. Learn about the difference between pirates and privateers and how privateers were instrumental in winning independence for America, as well as, the birth of the U.S. Navy (Washington’s Cruisers) in Beverly.

Also learn about Fanny Campbell, a fictional female pirate captain, who found herself in the midst of a revolution when the British Colonies in the new world revolved against the Crown.
