Artist’s Statement

Inspired by the elements of design in the natural world, Life in Full Bloom, features floral-themed linocuts in black ink. The flowers are stylized and bold, reaching skyward, often accompanied by pollinating bees or butterflies. Keeping true to the local surroundings, all are familiar flowers found in Massachusetts. Just as flowers sprout, bloom, and finally reveal their full splendor, people also grow and change. In that vein, about one third of the works include clever, uplifting text meant to inspire people to bloom and enjoy their best lives.

The floral images have a formal, fine art feel while the combination images have a more poster-like quality. All the works are numbered, having been individually hand-printed using oil-based ink on paper made from unbleached mulberry and bamboo fibers.

Presented matted, in black frames, and ready to hang, these original works are perfect for gifts or for enjoying yourself! May these linocuts brighten your day!

Jill Clemmer has received numerous awards, including Best of Show in printmaking at the 2025 Marblehead Festival of Art.
