Leon Drachman
Leon is a Marblehead-based watercolorist. After working as an architect for 35 years, Leon retired in 2022. During his career Leon focused on the creation of spaces and buildings, with a single-minded emphasis on design. Leon has relied greatly on traditional means of representation and visualization to communicate design, ranging from technical drafting to free-hand sketching, manual renderings, digital imaging and graphic-based presentations. Since his retirement, Leon has shifted his efforts to painting, using watercolor as a means of exploring composition of form, color and value.
Leon was a partner at Payette, a major Boston-based architectural firm, winner of the AIA Firm Award in 2019. Leon’s work has been published and shown at exhibitions, and his designs have won dozens of national and international design awards. In addition, Leon has been active lecturing, teaching, writing articles and essays, and participating in design award juries.
