Linda Lea Bertrand

I create realistic plein air paintings with an impressionistic color sense in the New England landscape, absorbing the local color, capturing the changing effect of light, weather and season. My paintings evoke peace and tranquility. I invite my viewers to step into my painting, to share where they have experienced the same feeling I had while painting it. Viewers can gain a moment of tranquility in their daily lives.

I have a passion for art. The contemplative aspect I initially felt observing great art continued in the practice of creating art. As a nurse, painting reduced the stress from my work with the acutely ill. I am initially self-taught, then an error in scheduling led to a painting course. I have been painting ever since. I sought out art mentors who inspired me to develop accurate drawing, light effects and color sense. Besides local subjects, I have a collection of French paintings from annual painting retreats there to absorb the ambiance and paint provincial villages and landscapes with artists from around the world.

Since retiring from a Cardiology practice, my art has been flourishing. I am participating in national competitions, giving demonstrations, teaching and curating exhibits. My paintings have been exhibited at the Massachusetts Statehouse, Boston, and at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, among other local venues. I am looking forward for what is to come.
