Patricia McCarthy
Pat is both a studio and “en plein air” painter. Oil paint is her medium of choice and landscapes, occasionally with buildings, boats, animals or even lively seagulls incorporated, are favorite subjects. The farmland, coastline, and woodlands both here and abroad provide ready subjects for her paintings and inspire those who see her work to discover the world’s beauty and variety. Her work is frequently exhibited in juried national and regional exhibitions.
She holds undergraduate degrees from Duke University in North Carolina and Emmanuel College in Boston and a master’s degree from Clark University, Worcester, Massachusetts. Throughout her career in healthcare she continued to paint and expand her art education and was fortunate to have studied for several years with renowned Gloucester artist, David P. Curtis, and Rockport artist, Caleb Stone. Pat frequently travels to Ireland, Italy and England to paint with family and fellow artists.
