Lisa Boemer
Most recently, the Spring of 2024, Boemer was awarded a STARS Residency through the Mass. Cultural Council and the Lynn Cultural Council to collaborate and teach with the art students at Lynn Vocational Technical Institute where she and the students, with the guidance of their teacher, Ms. Levitan, explored various artistic processes, techniques and created collages on chart paper and explored mark making to create an abstract on a NOAA chart. Lastly, students painted a traditional seascape in conjunction with Boemer to bring awareness to the Right Whale Critical habitat featured on many of Boemer’s NOAA Chart paintings.
“The Right Whale and Our Community Exhibit” featuring the student’s collage work, abstract painting and seascape as well as Boemer’s NOAA Chart Paintings where hosted at the Small Gallery at the Galleries at Lynn Arts through May 11th, 2024. In addition, a screening of the movie: “Entangled” by Boston Globe reporter, David Abel, at The Vault Theater was free to the public as part of the exhibit on April 28th.
Since less than 350 Right Whales left in our Atlantic Ocean and boat strikes and entanglements are the two primary causes of death for this nearly extinct species of whales, Boemer is passionate about bringing awareness to these magnificent creatures and is thankful to Edgetech for offering a Ropeless Lobster Trap to be featured as part of the exhibit as well.
Commissions are always welcome!
