Introduction to Printing
Little Harbor Studios | 18 Doak’s Lane, Marblehead
The Introduction to Printing course is a four-week class designed to familiarize intermediate or advanced beginner artists with various printmaking techniques. The course will be conducted at Little Harbor Studios, located at 18 Doak’s Lane, and will utilize their etching press.
Students will have access to practice time during the week. Prior drawing and painting experience will be beneficial for participants. Examples of professional work will be provided.
The course will be offered on October 19th, 26th, November 2nd, and 9th from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. To enroll in this course, there is a fee of $200. All supplies will be provided, covered by a $100 lab fee which can be paid at the first class meeting. The course will cover Addition/Subtraction, Trace Monotypes, Pronto Plate Lithography, Linoleum Reductions and Layering with stencils.
Please note that a Part Two class, focusing on more advanced techniques, is expected to take place in February and March 2024.

Amy Hourihan, an acclaimed painter and printmaker, will be the instructor. Her monotypes can be found in both private and public collections.
Amy has studied printmaking with Joel Janowitz at the Mixit Studio in Sommerville, as well as at the MFA and Maude Morgan in Cambridge. She has also trained in mock hang woodcuts with Matt Brown of Lyme, NH.
